FAQ

How does the VPN / proxy detection work?

This tool queries public IP intelligence APIs from your browser. Some providers return privacy flags like vpn, proxy or hosting. If the API doesn’t provide these signals for your request, the result will show Unknown.

Why do I sometimes see “Unknown” for VPN / Proxy / Hosting?

Not all IP datasets include privacy indicators, and coverage varies by region and ISP. “Unknown” usually means the data source did not return a reliable signal — not necessarily that you are or aren’t using a VPN.

Why can ISP / Org look different (or wrong)?

Different APIs return different organization strings. This page prefers stable ISP fields and filters common “garbage” labels. If one provider returns something odd or incomplete, the tool may fall back to another source.

Do you store logs or track users?

No. FastTools runs client-side and calls public APIs directly from your browser. We don’t store your IP, and we don’t use cookies or analytics on these pages.

Can websites still detect a VPN even if this page shows “No” or “Unknown”?

Yes. Websites can use their own datasets and detection methods (reputation databases, ASN checks, behavior patterns). This tool is a quick check based on the upstream dataset only.
